Okay needing advice for my teenage ASD son's disability pension. Hope someone can help.
I have been hearing conflicting stories. At the moment my sons pension is building up in his account. He still lives at home and does not have any real costs. Though I am teaching him that he now has to purchase his own things to learn to be responsible with this money.
Some info I have been given is that Centrelink may cut this pension if it builds up too much? Is this true? Do they have that right?
The way I see it, this money is for my sons future. When I am no longer around to care for him. Any advice ladies would be fantastic

I don't know if they can cut it or not, but it's money that should be going to his rent, utilities, food etc, so maybe ask him to pay you board, bills ect, and put it in a separate savings account to keep for him if you're able to cover these things yourself for now
You must be lucky to be earning enough money to cover his expenses. Which is great. I think when you sat down and worked it out, you'd realise that food, utilities, rent, clothing etc all adds up and he wouldn't have so much left over money.
I'd probably put some of the funds as rent and board in your bank account to one side. If you don't need it to cover his expenses, fine but you know it's there in case for him later.
The only way you'll find the facts regarding the funds is by talking to Centrelink themselves, but even then the info you get is varied. Everyone is allowed to have some assets. But once you go over the asset amount his payments can be cut.
My son is on an adult pension, living at home. I'm on a carers payment. We both have a tiny amount of savings by the time we've paid medical expenses and normal bills so you are doing well!!!
