There are plenty of studies to show him, screens have a negative effect on young kids development and not just that the constant sound and light stiimulus as well as that time is missing out on genuine interactions and learning experiences.
Perhaps get some cds and encourage outside time and play time, I dont want to say help him make a schedule as thats really condescending, but talk about what hes doing and where the tv could be off and set some timeframes. Also lead by example when youre home and turn it off, even cover it. Its a very hard dependency to break and it is much better especially as they grow up to have a kid that knows how to play. However, of course, as he is the sahparent you dont want to complain, but you could share some information about education and development and have a good discussion about two things 1. What you both want for your baby and 2. How hes coping with doing it
Its all in moderation - how much screen time are we talking about?
Honestly if it wasn't for screen time I wouldn't get anything done. However, I don't allow them to stay in front of it all day. Being at home all day with a clingy toddler can be very difficult and makes it hard to get much housework done so I don't blame parents who use screen time as a way to get stuff done so working parents don't have to after they get home.
