Hi, I’m wondering if anyone could help me decide what to write on an enrolment form for a Catholic School. I hope for my boy to attend in a few years time.. my dilemma is I don’t know what to put down for religion. My mother was raised as a jehovah’s witness but has never followed any beliefs. We always celebrated Xmas, Easter and birthdays. She allowed me to believe what ever I chose. I followed Christianity growing up... youth group, Sunday school, taking communion (never baptised) etc. but now guess I am more of a agnostic. I do believe that there is energy to everything. I believe in lots of different aspects to all types of religions. Mainly I believe that people should be decent to each other and I respect any religion that does so. I am not against any religion but don’t really practice any. My son does religion at his current public school and has told me that he believes in god. I respect his decision to do so and will leave it up to him to find his path. So... what would I put down on the enrolment form for both of us? This has left me a little confused as they have a list of religions but I don’t relate to any single one.

I went to a catholic school, my religion was recorded as uniting church because that's what I was baptised. If your son believes in god I would put christian for him and possibly yourself?
I sent my son to a Catholic College for high school and told them we didn't believe in or follow any religion, they asked if it would be a problem if he had to take religion classes which it wasn't and he was accepted.
My kids go to a catholic school. I put for me no religion. My hubby is baptised, we put not practicing.
We did get the kids baptised to help with getting in.
Is that the only reason you got them baptised???
Yes. The state and high school near us is not to my liking.
The Catholic schools take baptised over not.
My daughter goes to a Catholic school and I put down Anglican as that's how I was raised. She is not baptised. I told the school that she can make the decision to get baptised when she's older if she wishes, I won't make it for her.
I enrolled my son into a Catholic school as a single parent and no religion for me or my son. Most of them aren't so strict about that anymore although ours did make it very clear that religion is present throughout the whole curriculum and they might find it over bearing (he was 14). You might also find that if there are limited places catholic children will get first preference, which is fair enough because it's a Catholic school.
My son goes to a Catholic school. His father is Anglican, I am agnostic. I put Anglican on his enrolment form, he got in no problem. But.... now he is 14 he is questioning the need for so much religious instruction. We had a time when he wasn't doing his religion homework so we had a chat and I told him to just treat as another subject, you don't have to believe or agree with it, just do the work.
It is a great school so if that's his only problem I'm happy.
My husband was raised Christian, doesn't go to church anymore but still classes himself as Christian. I was raised in an atheist family but was given the choice to believe whatever I wanted too but decided I was an atheist at 16. Our son has not been christened or baptised because of our difference in beliefs, we decided to leave it up to him when he's old enough to make that decision. He is enrolled at a catholic school for next year. I was honest with them about my husband's and my beliefs and the fact he's not baptised and he was still accepted at the school.
