I am looking to further my career by studying.
I'm leaning towards community service/health work but I have a major cloud hanging over my head.
Most of this work requires a Police check.
I have a theft charge on my record from many many years ago, basically I took something home from work one day with the intention of paying and this employer was looking to get rid of me and used this as a means of doing so.
I now have to live with that mark on my record forever.
Are my chances of getting employed in any of these fields all but diminished because of this?
I feel like it's holding my life back so much ðŸ˜

I think it cannot hurt to ask - and by ask, I mean ask a potential employer. A clear record for a long time has to be a vote in your favour. My hubby has had a couple of things come up on his police check (but he has a clear record for many years since) which, to my knowledge, has not stopped him from being given opportunities.
