Making the move from VIC to QLD

Hi ladies!
My hubby and kids are looking g to relocate to Hervey Bay QLD from our freezing country town here in Victoria.
I was wondering if some of you ladies could tell me how you feel about the area, medical facilities, schooling/kindergarten any particular areas to stay clear of ect ect.
Also, how did you adjust from being so far away from family and friends? I don’t see my family/friends that often now, but once we move there is basically a ZERO chance I’ll see them due to their financial statuses and work.
It will be a big adjustment, but I’ve wanted to move away from this town for as long as I can remember.

Thanks in advance!

From my travels I'd suggest it's more of a retirement location, not sure of job sitch and what opportunities there are for older kids study/career wise. Also, it's expensive if you wanted to fly in or out.

I'd look at Sunshine Coast. That was second on my list after Byron Bay (where I moved to from Vic)

It is tough initially, not knowing anyone, but you rely on each other and realize how resilient you are, and we became a very close family. Get involved with school activities and committees, get a bit of work for yourself. Join clubs, do crafts, hobbies, talk to your neighbors, join local fb groups.

I fly back to Vic at least once a year, and see a couple of family members up here once or twice a year. We previously travelled for 2 years prior to settling here, so we're used to being just us.

My parents relocated from Croydon (Vic) to Oakhurst (Qld), just out of Maryborough and still pretty close to Hervey Bay. All I can say is that Hervey Bay is a better option than Maryborough. My mother died in Maryborough hospital because they didn't have the right medical imaging equipment available there in comparison to Hervey Bay, and she couldn't be stabilised enough to be transported.
Hervey Bay is a beautiful place. I've visited as a tourist and it's very well established with all the shops you'd ever need.
You are brave to make the move. You only live once, so do what makes you happy. There's always social media for staying in touch with people, and you will make new friends wherever you go. Be strong and best of luck with it all.
