IVF Treatment

I had my tubes tied a year ago and now my partner wants his first child, Im chasing some first hand experience with the IVF journey and weather or not private health is worth while getting and waiting 1 year or just to start the process asap without Private Health. My understanding is that ph covers hospital stay and some medication, other than that its all out of pocket with some medicare rebates, and which facility in Cairns is the best practice money wise and success. thanks ladies xx

Private health is better for pregnancy/birth it really covers very little of the ivf process. It may cover some of the day procedure hospital cost for egg retrieval (I’ve never heard of anyone having a hospital stay) but I think you’ll find the cost of private health over twelve months will be more expensive than the money you could claim for ivf

We did IVF in 2015 with no Private Health Insurance. We paid about $7400 and got about half back from medicare. None of which private health would have covered

The Day Surgery was about $1000 and the anesthetist was about $500.
So we were about $1500 out of pocket without Private Health.

It depends on if you want to wait the 12 months and if the monthy payments would be worth waiting for.
