Overweight and getting pregnant?

Overweight and getting pregnant?

I don’t know if I’m just being way to concered and worrying more then I should.. but my partner and I have started trying for #2! I should be excited (and I am for actually having another baby) but I’m concerned that being overweight it’s going to affect my baby and have a horrible pregnancy! My first I was overweight but now I’m the biggest I’ve been. (110kg, 168cm tall) I’ve started eating better and exercising daily (usually 2.5km walk in the morning and then again in the afternoon) and then on weekends usually do a 6km walk in the morning.
So I’m trying to get fitter, not just to get pregnant but also for myself.
So far I’ve lost 5kg, though the scales haven’t moved in a week (also had a bit of a shit food day this week)
I should be happy with myself that I am changing my ways, but I can’t help but worry that I’m going to have an horrible pregnant ect.
I know all the risk that can come with being overweight with pregnancy I think I just needed to vent. 😭

Hey, don't worry about that number on the scale. Of course you want to be your healthiest self for your pregnancy. Just keep on gently exercising and eating a baknced diet. It is totally normal not to eat 'ideally' every single day of the week. A dietician will tell you that.
The number on the scale is just a number is only a pointer for doctors to keep a closer eye on you. But it's not a guarantee you'll have a healthy or unhealthy pregnancy or even an easy/difficult one.

That's wonderful that you are getting healthier. All I can say is just look at ensuring your eating habits and exercise habits as a whole are getting better. The number on the scale doesn't matter so much and you will have bad and good weeks...everyone does.
I'm not overweight but I have struggled with bulimia before, after and whilst pregnant and if it's any consolation you are in a far more desirable position than I was in. However the aim of both is to slowly improve your situation. It takes time to change habits. Best of luck

I'm 166cm tall and weighed 110 kilos at the end of my last pregnancy. My baby was the healthiest baby out of all 4 of my pregnancies. The other 3 I lost 30kilos and was sicker than I've ever been in my life. My babies were all scrawny skinned rabbits and I struggled to feed them. What I guess I'm saying is you need to be healthy for your baby to be healthy. Eat well, keep exercising, give up soft drinks and excess sugars and do the best for your body and baby and the baby will be fine. If you're healthy then the baby should be healthy unless there are extra complications. Don't stress to much as stress isn't good for the baby. You can eat crap food just not to excess. But you don't have to be thin to have a healthy pregnancy.

I'm 135kgs, 177cm tall and I've had two very easy, uncomplicated, natural births and conceptions. Nothing eventful in the slightest.
Being fat never impacted me in the slightest when it came to babies.
I didn't even have morning sickness.
A lot of skinnier, healthier friends had horrible pregnancies, births and poorly babies. The number on the scale doesn't mean your pregnancy will be horrible.

Maybe focus on getting at least 10kg off before you start trying, 20 even better! I’m over half way through my weight loss goal of 40kg. I feel heaps better! Not wanting to concieve like you tho, I’m at the other end, heading into the menopausal years 😂

PS I focus on my measurements and all the health benefits not just the scales
