Has any one successfully seeked legal adcice or action against a principal in regards to bullying?

Bullying

Has any one ever taken legal action against a school with success? Our school principal hasnt done any thing to stop the bullying. Theres been physical, verbal and cyber attacks. My childs teacher keeps reporting it , I have evidence of cyber and Principal says kids just need to work out and understand the pecking order. Therefore he doesnt do anything to stop or defuse things. I am tried of speaking to teacher, teacher has suggested to take it up with the school principal boss. As she is frustrated by it.
This has been going on for a year now.
Any one else been in a similar situation and seeked legal advice? Thinking of getting a letter drawn up from a lawyer to show principal boss that I am serioys and this issue needs to be address better and principal needs addressing too

What a terrible principal. Bullying is a serious issue. My sister was horrifically bullied at school, our school did nothing even after my dad storming the principal's office on many occasions. This one day i witnessed my sister being pegged in the face with half eaten apples, i lost it, bailed said bully up and gave him the fright of his life. My sister was never bullied again. It boils my blood knowing that schools/principals ect do nothing about it. Take the matter higher, go above the principal and hopefully the bullying stops. Best of luck.

You need to go to your district office if you can't get anywhere with admin. Have you had a meeting with the principal yourself? You can't just take your complaint from teacher to lawyer you need to go through the ranks first!

I wouldn't focus on legal action. I would focus on getting the issue dealt with by going above the principal to the department or by changing schools if my kid was cracking and getting a psychologist. The only outcome of legal action is money, which is highly unlikely in Australia and doesn't actually fix the problem

I disagree that the only outcome of legal action is money. Sometimes setting a landmark legal precedent is what it takes to send a message to people that they will be bound by their responsibility and duty of care. I think if something like this was successful, it would only take one ruling for schools, principals and education departments around the country to stand up and take notice. It would have far reaching effects; probably helping a lot of other children and their families in the future.
