Thanking a teacher

Thanking a teacher

How do i thank a teacher i bearly know? 10+ yrs ago i graduated highschool, and there is one teacher who helped a lot (well 2 but i can’t find the 2nd) who made a big difference even though she’d probably have no idea she did. I have found her on FB and would really like to tell her she made a difference. How do i do that without sounding corny? There were also rumors around at the time i feel are true and helped make the difference. Do i mention these or just leave them and just say thanks. I kinda want to tell her how she made the difference but that means entering her personal life. Please help.

I think you are overthinking it.
Just send her a message on fb saying she/he was your teacher in year blah blah snd thank you for blah blah.
Dont mention rumors or gossip just say thank you.

Just say something like "Hey I'm ____ and I was in your _____ class in the year ____. I just want to say that you have made a huge and positive impact on my life. You've helped me a lot and I really appreciate having had you as my teacher. So thank you."

I think the above comment would be a perfect start to saying thank you. And depending of their reply, you could leave it at that or If the teacher askes questions or seems interested in conversing with you, you can elaborate more on the reasons ect
