Hi all,
I need help! Before having kids my husband and I were slobs! Well not like the people you see on those hoarder shows but we did not do any mopping/vacuuming/cleaning of bathrooms unless we had to so it could be like 8 weeks between proper cleans! Disgusting I know!
Now with two kids we have gotten better thanks to a cleaner monthly however I feel like I'm probably a slobbish mum. With two kids under 5 and both quite clingy and one in the stage of trying to eat everything it is really hard to do any housework unless another adult is with them.
I manage to vacuum used rooms weekly (unused fortnightly), clean bathrooms weekly but rotate things like bath cleaning with shower cleaning each week, mop floor weekly at least in used areas and sweep less used areas fortnightly but feel like this is probably not enough???
Edit: have tried wearing the younger one but they are a Buddha!! Plus I have a bad back so after doing a big clean I can barely pick up the younger one!
How often do other people do these chores and other ones? I tidy daily, wash clothes daily do dishes etc and our home/garden requires constant maintenance hence why I can't dedicate all my time to cleaning. Plus hubby works full time and I work part time so with everything there seems to be hardly any time to clean. Help please! I don't want us to be a slob family!

That sounds like fair cleaning to me, not slobby but not on the crazy clean end. I'm about the same, just rock it. As long as it's not food and feral mess that makes life harder on you, untidy is fine in my book.
Sounds pretty similar to me. Each day of the week I do 1 big job (floors Monday, bathroom Tuesday, sheets Wednesday etc). Then every day do the basic tidy/washing/cooking routine
This is exactly like us! We were always slobby and whilst I'm not anymore, my husband is. I have a bubba who isn't even crawling yet is too heavy for our Baby Bjorn (buddha baby here too hehe).
I have a cleaner weekly, it's expensive but helps. I also have a cordless vacuum in the kitchen as well as a spray mop so once dinner is done, I do a quick vacuum over and spray mop under highchair and table area. I also leave our normal vacuum out rather than packed away and when we're sitting down playing I ask my hubby to quickly give the carpets a going over (nightly) which takes a minute tops (hardly any carpet).
I do bathrooms/toilets, vacumm mop once a week. I do sweep every couple of days and I wash nearly every day. But i tidy up every day. I hate having messy kitchen so that gets cleaned twice daily after breakfast and after dinner. I usually do a spring clean every 6 months.
You don't sound like a slob family, you sound like you're doing your best!
My house is only meticulously immaculate 4 times a year, when I have an inspection (I rent). The rest of the time my house has the lived in look, there's usually washing in baskets to fold, random toys floating about, our beds don't get made every day, there's usually clutter and crap in more places than I'd like to admit and I could probably vacuum more often than I do but I've come to realise something - this is just how I am, I'm never going to be a person who's house is always neat and tidy (no judgement to people with very clean and tidy homes - more power to you). I don't want to dedicate all my time to cleaning, my aim is to keep things hygienic enough so we don't die 😂
When your kids are little, you just do what you can to stay afloat. It does get easier as they get older, so I don't see any need to put all this unnecessary pressure on yourself 😊
There are 2 fb pages you may find useful though - Mums who clean and Mums who organise.
I do the whole house weekly. We have a three bedroom 1 bathroom so it isn’t a huge house but a lot of tiles. I can’t stand doing half the job and freak out thinking sweeping half the house is pointless because then you walk crumbs from the dirty part to the clean part. It all has to be done together or not at all. I do have OCD tendencies though.
I tend to wash all our sheets and towels fortnightly. And the week I don’t do washing, I’ll do the bath and shower. But every week I vacuum the whole house, sweep and mop. Clean toilets and bathroom vanities. Kitchen is clean every night after dinner.
Get a weekly cleaner then all you have to do is keep things tidy.
