I’m 24 weeks it’s my third baby , my midwife just told me that I can have the flu needle at 28 weeks plus the whooping cough needle as that’s now recommended to have every pregnancy .
My question is I’ve never ever had the flu needle and I wasn’t planning on getting it , had anyone ever had it during pregnancy ? I’m so unsure about it .
Has anyone had the whoopong cough needle while pregnant ? I had it 8 years ago when my first daughter was born and thought I would have it again when this one was born but didn’t realise they give it while pregnant now

Yes whooping cough while pregnant to provide some cover for the baby as soonas theyre born. I also wasnt going to get flu shot but after speaking to them I did. There are zero risks and some benefits as pregnant women and babies are more likely to catch it and can get really seriously ill and even die from flu.
Third pregnancy and I've had whooping cough and flu injections each pregnancy at 28 weeks. I just feel that any protection I can give my baby I will especially whooping cough as it can provide baby with cover as soon as they're born
I had the actual flu pregnant with my second, was a very scary time (was also around the time swine flu was making headlines).
Trust me, if they're offering it, take it!
As for the whooping cough one, they offer that in pregnancy now to offer baby more protection, it's a brilliant advance in prenatal care - one I wish was available when I was pregnant!
Yes I had both as did my husband, no hesitations. You will pass the antibodies on once born if you breastfeed. It’s vital !!
Pregnant women are consider high risk when it comes to the flu, just like the elderly. The whooping cough is to help your baby be somewhat protected once its born. I had both with my pregnancy and am so glad that i did. I didnt get any side effects from either needles.
Thanks ladies , I have no problem with the whooping cough just really unsure about the flu needle as I’ve never had it and wasn’t sure if it would be safe for the baby or cause side effects for myself .
Would you suggest my partner get both needles too ?
Partner only needs a whooping cough booster when due and as for flu its up to him but would be recommended as he'll be around you and bub.
If unsure speak to them, Im pretty sure there are no major risks or side effects of flu vaccine - none. But the effects of flu while pregnant are very serious, and your chances are increased.
Definitely whooping cough, as with anyone who will be coming into contact with your baby.
Flu is up to them, my husband did because he would have felt extremely guilty had he not and he contracted it and harmed our baby :)
I recently had my third baby. Same deal this pregnancy so I looked into it and spoke to a doctor. There hasn't actually been a lot of testing on humans to say that there is low or no risk to the baby. Definitely not enough conclusive studies for my comfort. I opted out everything was fine.
Was this for the flu needle ?
Medical professionals cannot claim no side effects if there are no studies. That is not the same thing.
A quick google search confirms, studies done, no serious risk.

No to both.
Not tested on pregnant women.
As you said, wasn’t offered just a few short years ago and the consensus then was absolutely no shots for pregnant women.
Stop spreading lies. People like you are the reason why diseases aren't being eradicated as fast as they should be.
Which part is a lie?
Definitely get them to protect you and your bubba from this nasty strain of the flu and from whooping cough.
Science is awesome
