Hi mums, I am worried my baby is a 'lazy' feeder and now my milk supply has dropped dramatically. He tends to fall asleep at the breast after not very long being fed. So I was pumping afterwards and getting about 50ml/80ml which I would then feed him. Just then I fed him, he fell asleep, so I tried to pump and barely got a thing. I am starting to panic.
What did other breastfeeding mums do to produce more milk fast?
I am really worried I will have to supplement with formula, or even give up breastfeeding altogether.
Oh and I don't have anything against formula feeding at all, its just that I really wanted breastfeeding to work out.
Please help!

Keep in mind that a pumping session is not an indication of your output to baby. Baby is usually more efficient at draining a breast then the pump is. Also things like the time of day, the amount Bub had just fed, hydration ect could have all played a factor in the little amount you got this time in comparison to what you usually get.
If you don’t want to start supplementing with formula, I’d suggest to keep at it. And don’t add in formula. Usually the second people start supplementing with formula is the minute things start to go south because it’s a cycle of not getting enough breast milk so topping up more and more with formula, meaning less and less breast, less and less breast milk production. (Not against formula at all, but unless bun starts losing or not gaining weight, then I don’t see the need. And also never really hear of people successfully mix feeding for a long time because mil production just diminishes)
Other wise, I always found Milo was a massive booster. I always had Milo 45 minutes before bubs bedtime feed and fill her right up.
Maltesers apparently do too so you know, good excuse.... 🙊 anything with the malt.
Oats, lots of water, eating healthy ect
I would consult a lactation consultant. Your baby drinks what they need and pumping afterwards is just tricking your supply. You produce what bubs needs and pending age, no more than.
I’d look at some ways for you to keep Bub awake for a feed. We always stripped down to a singlet and nappy and my hubby would have a cold face washer ready and would place it on his forehead if he became lazy or just fell asleep. He soon learnt to get down to business :)
