Hey mummas. I’m currently pregnant with bubba #3 (8 year age gap between #2 and #3 so I feel like I’m doing it for the first time agai. 😝)
My next midwife appointment will be all about my birth plan. Baby #1 I had an epidural after 12+ Hours so I was bed bound for the following 9hrs til I had my baby girl. Baby #2 was in a hurry and I just used gas while on the hospital bed. Both births were at a major hospital more than 1hr from home
This time round, our local hospital now has a birthing suite and I seem to have more options when it comes to my birth plan. I already know that I do not want another epidural, I hated not being able to move. But I have been offered a water birth, I’d love to hear your stories if you’ve gone from a bed birth to a water birth. Was it an easier birth? How was it with pain relief? Do you think it sped things along?

Horrendous long and traumatic first labour in bed. Amazing short water birth for second! Coincidence? Not sure. But being able to move around with ease was amazing! Best decision ever
So much easier. The water supports and soothes you. You can still have gas.
Some people have really good water births but for me it actually slowed my labour down. Dont get me wrong it felt amazing to be in water and I fought tooth and nail to stay but it slowed it that much it was better for me to do a out of water birth. I hope it works for you though it felt amazing.
