Pregnancy

Hello mummies. I just turned 34 and found out I am pregnant. This will be baby number 2 and a complete surprise (yes, we were using contraception). I am freaking out because of my age. Any ladies out there have experiences having babies a bit later? Were you considered high risk? Did you need more tests/ monitoring? (Obviously I will take all my medical questions to a doctor. The one i saw this week seemed uninterested)

36 is typically when they start giving more attention. 34 is common.

I had the best, easiest pregnancy at 34. Birth centre and water birth, no extra care or tests at all.

I had my 3rd at 34 and now at 41 I’m pregnant with my 4th. 34 is young, over 36 they start calling advanced maternal age and all that stuff but seriously you’re about the average age for having a baby

I had my second at 35 low risk pregnancy with a midwife program. No more monitoring. Easy birth.

Personally, I’d get the NIPT test (harmony) as well as the Nuchal. Just for peace of mind.

Currently 20wks pregnant with my third baby and I’m 36! Never had any complications or high risk. Don’t stress, stay mildly active like gentle daily walks ect, eat healthier than normal and take care of yourself. You’ll have all your usual check ups anyway so they will help give you piece of mind.

You're not that old, I just had baby number 4 at 32 years old. My sister had her second set of twins at 34 completely healthy and normal pregnancy. Doctors may say you're an older mum but unless you have health conditions you should be fine.

Excuse me, you need to get over YOURSELF. Just because you're struggling doesn't mean the world revolves around you or people can't be worried.

IF you ever fall pregnant you'll understand. You worry 24/7 and the worry never stops.

That must be so frustrating and disappointing for you to be trying for so long.
Please don’t be rude though. Her issue and your struggles are completely separate from each other.

How about you get over yourself? Stop projecting your own situation to someone else’s. Each person has their own journey and you’re comment is wildly insensitive.

Hello, Congratulations!
I was 38yrs when I had my 1st and now at 40yrs I’m 10weeks preg with my 2nd. Both were planned. I think some midwives expected me to develop high BP and were waiting for health issues to arise. But if you’re healthy it’s really not that different to pregnancy in younger years. There’s no additional testing or appointments. The Harmony test is still optional.
I think you’re still young. If you look after yourself you’ll be fine.
Enjoy it! 😊
