So I am currently being tested for suspected hep c. Only recently the ball dropped that numerous symptoms were pointing in this direction. It baffles me, as I have never used needles (no judgment here either - just saying as I’ve always believed this too be the only way of catching Hep C), but tick all the other boxes for possible causes (contact with contaminated blood, shared razor & toothbrush, frequent oral sex ect). I guess at this point, i would just like too reach out & ask has anyone had Hep C effect their life? Wether it be you previously/currently are infected, or perhaps someone close, or work in an environment where it’s a high risk. Any personal experience or information is so appreciated, google has been wonderful for the textbook side of my learning & understanding. Thank you.

Sorry no advice on hep c, but I know someone with hep b and their life is just fine. You might have to restrict your alcohol though, if you drink that is. I wish you luck, unless you’re having an acute attack, I think it will be life as usual.
Actually now I think about it, my great uncle had it, he never knew his whole life (was a heavy drinker) and died of an ulca, completely unrelated, we only knew due to the autopsy. We think he got it as he had a heart operation in the 80s, before they screened for it.
My husband and his twin brother were born with Hepatitis after his mum had a contaminated blood transfusion in Europe. None of their lives have really been impacted. He is meant to not drink too much (he still does drink and when he does his eyes and skin go yellow and his liver hurts and he pays for it for days and days but it’s his own fault - no sympathy from me when he does that!). He is 36 now. When we met he told me upfront about it and I got a vaccination from the gp over the space of a year. Honestly I can say it’s not even an issue in his life, he is careful when he gets a cut or anything, covers it quickly and keeps it away from the kids. I think the stigma is worse than the actual virus.
Is there an immunisation for hep c now? I’ve had the hep b one.
No I had the hep b one, the doctor said it was better than nothing even though the viruses are different. We are due to have our 4th baby and so far I’ve not been infected.
Most people get help c cured now. Your gp will talk you through the treatment options once it's confirmed.
