I am about to give birth to my 4th child and I’m starting to feel very anxious about birth control. This pregnancy occurred while I was breastfeeding, so I’m going to have to consider some kind of birth control ASAP.
The problem is, I’ve had terrible trouble with a few different kinds in the past and I don’t know what to do. I had the copper IUD implanted as I don’t really like the hormonal ones, but it perforated my uterus and gave me 9 UTIs, so I’m ruling that option out. I then got the depo shot every 3 months for 2 years, and I bled (light spotting) the entire time. (My husband got really good at period sex lol).
I have PCOS and rarely ovulate anyway, so I’m leaning towards just doing the old fashioned billing’s method to track ovulation, but my doctor has basically said that I’m stupid and risky for choosing that over say, the pill. I really struggle with weight gain on hormonal birth control so just trying to think of everything. I won’t consider tubal ligation but I am considering hysterectomy, as I have pre-cancer cells in my cervix that aren’t clearing up- so surgery may be a part of my future anyway....as you can tell I am at a loss!
Any advice or your own stories would be much appreciated.

Similar situation.
Only thing I really consider, if we are definitely not wanting pregnancy (at the moment we wouldn’t mind if we fell pregnant) is condoms.
They are an annoying pain in the arse, but until we permanently get rid of pregnancy chances, that’s the only thing I’d use
I’ve had terrible reactions to hormonal birth control, all except the NUVA-RING. You insert it like a tampon and stays in 3 weeks, the hormone dosage is localised so doesn’t travel through your body like others.
Drs kind of forget about it because it’s a bit more expensive than other hormonals and it’s not quite as set and forget as the implants etc.
I personally think it’s worth a go because if you have a reaction to it, you can remove it yourself and it’s out of your system very quickly.
I have endometriosis and after failing with every form of contraception (like you) i saw a specialist. I had the mirena but I was still bleeding and cramping everyday so she put me on a lose dose pill and it has fixed it all. Maybe that's an option for you?
A friend of mine was done having kids and tried the tracking ovulation thing... she's due to give birth in 2 months or so 😂
Having a hysterectomy is a huge deal. I personally would not consider this an option unless the doctor said it was 100% necessary :/
Contraception isn't only up to the female. I think your partner needs to step up and do his part and get a vasectomy
