VBA2C experiences

Hi sister's,

I am due to have baby number 3 in a few months time and my obstetrician is supportive of me attempting a VBA2C provided I go in to labour spontaneously and don't require medical intervention.

She has outlined the risks and of course has to cover their liabilities so recommends an repeat c-section but is confident that it's not impossible to VBA2C.

I am just wanting to find out some other mummas personal experiences delivery naturally after 2 sections.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve had two csections and I’ll be going VBA2C next pregnancy.

From the research and experience, just be aware, it’s safer for your ob to do another csection because of the regulations they have in place and at the end of the day, obstetricians are surgeons and aren’t paid for you to have a vaginal birth. So first sign or hint that they can push you in direction of a csection, and they will. That’s what happened with my second which was supposed to be a VBAC.

So many Woman VBA2C. And from my research, there is just as many risks that come along with a third csection then there is on a vaginal birth after two csections. Risks with everything as always.

There is an amazing Facebook group dedicated to VBAC’s. There are women on there that have a vaginal birth after 4-5 c sections. It’s called ‘VBAC Australia Support Group’

I’m curious as to why you just wouldn’t do what the medical professionals recommend? Wouldn’t they know what is best and safest rather than people who aren’t doctors?

Such a valid question! And thank you for asking in a compassionate way.

There is not enough information on delivering naturally after 2 sections for the doctors to say whether the risks of natural birth or a repeat c-section De higher.

It is hard to find doctors supportive of VBAC after even 1 c-section.

The main reason behind my request for a VBA2C is because I have major medical issues in my stomach that will become worse with a repeat c-section, a repeat c-section will also increase risks and complications for surgeries that I will need in the future. This is the main reason my doctor and I are in agreement.

She has given me both side of the statistics as much as she can but as mentioned? With the lack information available it's relatively unchartered territory.

I actually had a merina IUD which worked for 8 years, fall out unbeknown to me which is how I fell pregnant to begin with. We are thrilled and excited but this baby was definitly not planned.

I am 100% listening to the advise of my obstetrician, we are in complete agreement. My end goal is for my baby and I do both make it through alive and if decided a c-section is needed then that is what we will do.
