Hey! I’m planning a holiday to Cairns in September and I was wondering what are the must do things to see and do up there? It’ll be myself and 3 kids aged 14, 12 and 10. We have about 4 spare days and the one thing I REALLY want to see is the Daintree so any recommendations for tours for this would be awesome! And anything else we must see or do while we are up that way to make the most of our trip :-)
Thank you heaps!

Definitely the night markets, the netted beach at the esplanade, it has a really nice feel and plenty of restaurants and cafes and little shops to eat and walk and spend time there.
Kuranda (the rainforest) has the market village which is lovely, there are boat trips on the river up there, trains, plenty to do you could plan a few days. AJ Hacketts bungee jumping is a great place to hang out and get lunch or drinks in the rainforest while watching them jump right in front of you (or jumping??)
I'm sure there are lots of boat trips snorkeling and diving on the reef. I've never gone from cairns, but going out to the reef is a must do.
The aquarium is cool in cairns is cool and obviously if you can manage a reef trip or a day trip to one of the islands it is worth it. As for the Daintree there is croc and river tours that operate from the township a couple of times a day. You are probably best to hire a car to get there. There is a couple of little cafes that do a nice lunch. You could also head further up to Cape tribulation which is a nice little town.
