What tests did your Doctor perform to determine you were having or had a miscarriage?
*edit to add* I am unsure if it was a miscarriage and I ask because if it is/was, I did not realise I was pregnant. My period was late but I put it down to very high stress levels. I had an EXTREMELY heavy bleed that lasted about 3 days (the entire "period" lasted 10 days all up and this was almost two weeks ago) with very heavy clotting along with quite horrible period pain and lower back pain, and these are all not normal for me, but again, I put it down to stress and thought nothing of it. When I say extremely heavy, im talking, changing a heavy tampon an hour and it bleeding through to my clothes, clots and blood running down my legs in the shower.
God knows what was going through my head to think it was normal.
Im usually regular, light periods, no period pain, no clotting and they last for 3-4 days. Always.
The reason I ask now is because I was blissfully unaware that I was experiencing pregnancy symptoms (and still am) and it all just hit me today when I was driving and had to pull over because I felt like vomiting out of nowhere. Emotional as all friggin HELL the past few weeks (I annoy myself with how much I cry over nothing), nipples so sensitive they feel on fire when touched, dizziness, nausea. Uncomfortable period pain and lower back pain all day today and on and off since that bleed. My boobs have also been having the let-down sensation, but I stopped breastfeeding 12 months ago. Its just strange.
Again, none of this is normal for me, but a light bulb went off that tied it all in with the bleed. I have also been having random bleeds since that "period".
Im not asking if im pregnant, a test will help me with that, but not if its too late. Im asking, if anyone has experienced this, how a miscarriage is determined IF it occurred almost two weeks ago. Is it possible? Will hcg levels still be present? I would estimate myself to have been around 5-6 weeks at the time of the bleed, IF I was pregnant.
Has anyone ever realised they've had a miscarriage a while after it occurred?
I will be going to the Doctors as soon as I can get an appointment.

Either a scan to check for heart beat or blood test to test for declining hcg levels.
So I just read your edit, it does certainly sound like a miscarriage but I have heard of women who go through a heavy bleed like that and end up having a normal pregnancy. Blood test will not show any pregnancy hormone if you were only 5/6 weeks and you miscarried 2 weeks ago. Since you are still getting symptoms I think you should definitely get tested asap.
I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and in my early stages my levels where not rising at first and I have a healthy pregnancy (I’m not the poster)
I have had 4 miscarriages and 2 of them were confirmed by blood tests.
A ultrasound can determine whether u have had a miscarriage or if ur foetus doesn’t have a heartbeat but it depends how early in the pregnancy u are I went in for a ultrasound at 6 weeks and my baby didn’t have a heartbeat then 2 weeks later I went back and there was a heartbeat
