Would like to get into a teacher aide / school officer role in the new year
Am a cairns local and have struggling to get any position I have applied or put through as an expression of interest . I have the certificate / qualifications and would be willing to take on anymore needed. I cannot afford to cut out my other industry job at the moment financially but are willing to volunteer/ get paid work on my days off .
Any tips or advice would be appreciated also finding this is killing my self worth and confidence in everything as I am not achieving goals that I want to .

Do you have a child who attends primary school? It would be a good step in the door if you could volunteer through their school.
It’s reallh tough work to get into. Lots of people want the jobs compared to number of placements available. Try not to let it get you down.
Good luck
These jobs are hard to come
By and lots of people want them, you will
Literally be waiting for someone to die to get a job
Go to your local tafe, cert 3 in support education falls under second chance funding, so if you dont hold a Qualification higher than a cert 3 and only hold 1 cert 3 qualifaction, can you can do this course for about $280. The course runs over 12months, you do need to do volunteer hours as part of your couse, but it works out about 1 day a week over 2 terms. This gets you into a school, it shows the school how well you work and if your a good fit, and from there fingers cross you will get some causal hours. Once you have a payroll number put your resume everywhere, it is heaps easier for schools get put u on as a casual if your already in the system. I completed this couse in 2019, and everyone in my class finished with some sort of paid work, schools will call other schools if theu cant find a t/a to fill their shifts.
