Advice on further study

Considering doing my R.N. I'm currently an Enrolled Nurse (12 yrs), I have 5 kid's ranging from 11 to 2 yrs. I'm considering going to uni to get my degree before the little one starts school. I'm after people's opinions on work study balance, is it achievable, what are the uni fees like etc. Any info or advice will be greatly appreciated I'm stuck in 2 minds on what to do.

If you plan to work and study I’d recommend part time study at uni, it’s pretty heavy work. (I did my social work degree but didn’t have a job at the time so studied full time)

I had 6 children at the time ranging from 15-4 (I think 😂) it was tough at times, Late nights lots of tears but so rewarding.

I deferred my payments to government (HECS) but off memory each subject was maybe 1000-2500 (honestly I’ve have to check).

You might be able to use your current work experience to get credits for courses. I’d look into that. Make a few calls to some of the uni’s and have a chat! They’ll be happy to answer all your questions!

Good luck, I promise you won’t regret it

The study you will be fine. It’s the unpaid placements with no say in when and where that are tricky
