Sending kids to daycare?

Sending kids to daycare?

Hello everyone,

Just curious of when/if you are sending your kids back to daycare anytime soon? I've read some posts about parents starting to in the coming weeks and I'm wondering if I should do the same. I have a boy that starts school next year so I only have him in daycare to prepare him for that and to socialize with children his own age. What are you parents doing? Keeping them home? Starting back? Never stopped going? Are you a working parent or stay at home parent?
No judgement, everyone has their own reasoning I'm just curious what other people are going to do in the coming weeks. I'm in Victoria too.

My boys have gone throughout this whole time. My daycare has high level of cleaning and currently taking temp as we all arrive. No sick kids. I’m a stay at home mumma and in the early days the daycare asked if I felt comfortable with continuing to send them. My boys needed the routine. I need the break. And the daycare needed the kids. I’m QLD

I'm in Vic and my boy has been in childcare this whole time. We have a great centre, plus I'm working from home plus homeschooling 2 kids lol.

I'll send my daughter again when my son's school opens and he begins back at primary school. Personally jist won't send her to day care if my primary aged boy is home from school.

If it’s just in preparation for school, will 4 to 6 weeks of missing it really matter for his health/safety?
Even school hasn’t gone back in vic, I wouldn’t, you live in the state with the second highest numbers.
If you were in NT or even some small towns like mine they have had very few cases, I might consider it, but not in Vic.

NSW here my daughter only stopped attending daycare (2 days a week) because my husband and I had to take time off for older sons school holidays. As we were home we kept her home. We both work, in saying that I only work 2 days so kids are at home the other 3. So grateful to be able to in a time were many are not so lucky. I noticed heaps more children returned to daycare this last week. Previous to that there had only been 5-8 a day attend.

I think if you can keep him home a bit longer then you should. What’s a few more weeks? Especially if you aren’t working. If everyone starts sending there kids back then rates of any illness will rise. We all know how often kids get sick in childcare.

If you were in a state with no new recent infections I’d send him back now.

Mines at home with me. I think it's unfair to staff to send them as they won't enjoy exposure the more kids means the higher risk for them. If you're in the can stay home bunch, that's what you should do. I'm actually surprised to see some posts on Facebook about kids going to daycare (parents at home, not essential workers, no circumstances etc) I would feel too guilty to share it.

In QLD. My daughter is going back this week. I took her out when the schools closed.

The only reason she's going back is SN son is home learning. It's taking all my time and patience because he's being difficult & there's incredible pressure & increasing workload from the teacher to get it all done. I struggle to give DD time for her learning & play. It's not fair & she desperately wants to go back.

I spoke to her kindy/daycare first and they are happy to have her back. There's no active cases in our region.

In WA and my little one has been going to day care the whole time. We actually increased the days when we were having to do schooling from home (we actually did it during the first week of school holidays as well). When we increased our days this was before the government was giving the $$ to keep Day cares open so our thoughts were a) we needed the extra day and b) we were keeping people employed as they were more scared of the centre staying open! Both husband and I are essential workers and workloads have actually increased due to covid-19.
Do whatever you feel is best.

My kids are going back this week, I’m currently out of work due to covid but the kids need some routine back, my daughter loves daycare and has been off for 5 weeks now. I’m in SA and we’ve had no new cases for 12 days now so I feel fine sending them back.
