Recommendations around schooling and where to live in Newcastle

Hi. Im wondering if I can put this up as a post as Id really love some opinions. We are looking at moving to Newcastle, NSW next year from Melbourne as soon as we have confirmation that my son has gotten into the uni up there. My question is this, whats a nice area to live in? And I have a younger son, he will be in year 5. I want some recommendations on a good school for primary and secondary. Not catholic. I am excited to move, we have family near there (we have no-one in Melbourne) and I am so looking forward to be out of the cold weather - but its a big move and Im stressing out about these two things in particular. Can anyone help!
