Hi mummies,
I am a stay at home mum and have been for a while now. I have been home since I fell pregnant with my first child at 22. I have extremely little work experience (a few months) beforehand. And its really not relevant to my future career choice. I'm about to do a bridging course to then do my bachelor in nursing. I have an 8 month old, 22 month old and 5 year old. I would eventually love to get into neonatal nursing or midwifery. But with basically 0 work experience I'm worried I won't get a job after all my hard work. So I'm asking for advice from stay at home mums, that became nurses with little past job experiences. How did you get in the workforce and work towards your specialty? Being a neonatal nurse is definitely my preference, how do I work towards it?(Australia, qld).
I want a career i love and can be proud of. Thankyou

I would think youll get your experience on all the pracs you do. You can also get your foot in the door for a job that way. Previous jobs wont count for much theyll be interested in your qualifications and nursing experience only.
It’s not unusual to not have work experience. Many students go straight from high school to uni and finish without having had a job.
Don’t worry about it. Nursing is full of pracs and work experience and that will count for far more than any other work you could do.
