Trigger Warning Miscarriage

*** Trigger Warning Miscarriage ***

For those of you who have experienced a miscarriage what were your symptoms & experiences?

I have irregular periods so keeping track of ovulation and fertile days are hard but I use an app to try and keep track of that as well as days I have had sex.
Back in July I had what I thought was a period but after thinking about it more and talking to my Dr I am not sure if it was maybe a miscarriage.

At the end of May I felt sick so I did a pregnancy test and I thought I saw a faint line, anyway after 7 tests and different brands I could only see faint lines on 3 of the 7 and when I googled photos it looked like they were probably evap lines even though they were pinkish, I didn’t end up going for a blood test. In mid July I thought I got my period one night but it started off bright red blood and was pretty heavy from the start then by the second to third day I went to bed and when I woke up the next day my pad I had on overnight was soaked, so were my shorts and the sheets. I went to the bathroom and I could feel two clots come out and there were fairly large, I had a bit of pain similar to period pain (I don’t usually get period pain even when I have my period) and then after another day or two the bleeding stopped and I haven’t had a period since (which isn’t uncommon for me)

In my head I know it was most likely my period but a part of me thinks maybe it wasn’t and I’m not sure how I feel about it. When I spoke to my dr and told her what happened she said it could be a possibility but because I didn’t get a blood test we will never know.

I guess I just want to hear other people experiences to see if it’s similar so I can try and get it out of my head.

Hi IM,

If you continuously had faint lines, it could have been a chemical pregnancy as opposed to a "miscarriage" (don't know why they really call them two different things though).

I suffered a miscarriage at close to 7 weeks. I knew it was happening because my tests were getting fainter each day and blood confirmed my HCG was dropping. After about 3 days, I started to bleed very heavily, worse than a period. I then had full blown labour, like contractions were starting and I felt the urge to push constantly. Eventually after a few hours, out came the sac. It was slimey, a big gooey ball and clear. I then passed heaps and heaps of clots, some big some little. I bled like a substantial period for another 6 days and then it just stopped on day 7. I was tender and still had intense stomach cramping though for the entire time it was occurring.

Same experience with the sac.

Hope you're doing ok, it's hard

I have had a few and my early ones were as you described. I don't get period pain ever so I knew they were miscarriages as soon as I starred cramping. Heavier blood loss than a normal period with blood clots (which I never get with my period).

When I had my miscarriage I would have been about 10 weeks. I bled heavily for about 2-3 days and then medium-light for another 4-5 days. I had really bad back pain and period like pain (I also usually don’t ever get period pain and have had it maybe once in my life). I went for a shower to help with the pain and felt an urge to push (weird). When I push down a little bit I had massive clot loss 🥺 it was actually quite a traumatic experience to be honest.

It sounds like it could have been a chemical pregnancy although I feel like all the 7 tests should of been faint. Although no impossible depending on the timing of the tests and fluids.

I had a chemical pregnancy in July. I was feeling really really sick so took a test. And it was faint. Started spotting for a few days and was feeling better and kept testing, tests were still very faint. And then my period arrived properly a week late. That period was a little more painful then normal other wise not too much different to a normal period for me.

I had a miscarriage in November last year which was entirely different because I was 11 weeks (although the babe died at 8). My pregnancy symptoms suddenly stopped at week 9 which I didn't read into. Then at 10 weeks, I started spotting. And by the 11th week, I was contracting, in the shower basically birthing a fetus for two days.

From my understanding some people class chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage under a different category. None the less, either is heartbreaking and can be extremely traumatic.

And I dont think health care professions can actually class these as losses unless its confirmed by a blood test. (Although I could be wrong).

I felt off.

There wasn't really any obvious symptom, apart from feeling strange. I didn't have the full feeling anymore.

Then the obvious symptoms started.

Normally, if it isnt your usual "period," and you have faint HPT it's best to get confirmation.

Hope you're ok.
