Hi friends!
Just wondering if anyone here has tried Saxenda for weight loss and can give me some feedback on it. I saw my doctor today who has suggested I give it a try but after reading some reviews on the side effects I'm a little scared. It's such a huge amount to spend if I can't handle the side effects and have to stop taking it. I've struggled with weight my whole life and have had success in the past losing weight but I put it back on very easily. I have been very motivated and have been eating in a calorie deficit and exercising for the past 12 weeks with very little results. Seems it is getting a lot harder now I'm older (Just turned 40). I know this isn't a quick fix but I'm hoping it can give me the boost I need to set me in the right direction. Any advice or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated.
Also I'm not looking for advice on how to lose weight, I've done it before, I've done my homework and I know what's best for me and my lifestyle I'd just specifically like some reviews on this particular drug.
Thanks in advance 😊

I'm 39 and need to lose a LOT of weight (we are talking about 25kgs!!).
It took me years to get to this point, so it'll take as much, ornlonger, to lose it.
Years ago I tried a similar product and it was awful. I just put it all on. I lacked motivation. So I have decided to watch what I eat and start intermittent fasting of at least 18 hours. It has made a huge difference. I'm not losing heaps of weight, but I'm losing about 500g per week which is a lot more sustainable. I watch what I eat, but do succumb to a bit of sugar hit when I'm stressed. There are heaps of online tools to help.
That's a shitload of money for horrible side effects and no guarantee of weight loss.
I'm overweight and have lost weight in the past. And I know how to do it. Doesn't mean I was actually doing it 🤣 as you get older, your metabolism changes, but have a really good think about this drug and those like it.
My husband is on this. So is my best friend and her husband. My husband did suffer a bit of nausea in the beginning but it wasn't severe. Constipation in some people can be an issue too but its easy fixed with light laxatives. My best friend and her hubby got both the nausea and constipation. But no other symptoms were reported by the 3 of them.
It retails expensive but you can get the first couple months supply for free. You just need to let your dr know you can't afford it.
The three ppl in my life who are on it have had theirs for free, have all been on it for 2 months and all have lost between 7 and 11 kilos in that time. It definitely does reduce the appetite too but you've got to keep at it to see the results start showing.
Do you know how long you would have to take it?
Short term might be ok, but long term I would avoid it. There is no safety study after the 12 month mark with this drug.
Saxenda has been trialed a lot longer than 12 months on patietns and clinical tests have proven that at the 3 year mark , 50 percent of patients have had significantly weight loss.
Some people are on it much longer than 3 yrs if the drug is used for diabetes
I've no idea where you got your 12 month stastics from because its false information.
From the report which is found on the therapeutic goods administration website.
I'm not saying it doesn't work, I read the 51 page document before I posted.
Don’t do it, the potential side effects aren’t worth it. Research shows Intermittent fasting has the best results and is sustainable over the long term
I completely understand your concerns about trying Saxenda for weight loss, especially after reading reviews about potential side effects. It's natural to feel apprehensive about investing time and money into something that may not work for you.
While I haven't personally tried Saxenda, I've heard mixed feedback from others who have. Some have experienced positive results with weight loss, while others have struggled with side effects like nausea and headaches.
Since everyone's body responds differently to medications, it's essential to weigh the potential benefits against the risks. Your doctor's recommendation is a good starting point, but ultimately, the decision to try Saxenda should be based on what feels right for you.
If you do decide to give Saxenda a try, consider starting with a lower dose to see how your body reacts. And remember, it's essential to communicate any concerns or side effects with your doctor throughout the process.
Ultimately, you know your body and lifestyle best, so trust your instincts and make the decision that's right for you.
