Not quite sure how to ask this exactly. I’m looking into a career in Social Work. Looking for people experiences of this industry and the route they took to get a diploma or bachelors for this field. Diploma of Social Work. Bachelor of Social Work.

Bachelor of social work. Will get you into lots of areas :) highly recommend if you’re interested and motivated to supporting people with their lives.
I’ve got my bachelors degree, 4 years full time at university and 1000hrs placement (500hrs x 2 semesters in the 3rd and final year).
I’m family and youth focused, so child safety/community support services but could effectively work in a number of other areas like Centrelink or hospital setting :)
I did a diploma of family intake and support work at tafe (not sure if it still exists) then used that to get into uni to do a bachelor of Social work. I used the diploma to also get a job as a support worker to gain experience in the field.
The hardest part of the degree is the 1000hours of placement in 2 500 hour blocks.
