Hi All,
Just looking for advice from others who have been in a similar situation.
I’m wanting to start studying to become a mid wife. I’m 30 with 1 child and another on the way in QLD. Have a lot of family support but the problem is I’m not very smart when it comes to “studying”.
I’m a hands on learner and pick things up super quickly. I like to be shown how to do things but when it comes to tests/assignments/exams that’s where I fail. I’m assuming a TAFE course is my best bet due to the flexibility I’ll require with the kids but also the way they cater for mature adults?
Anyone else similar and were you able to achieve the goal?

I asked this same question a few days ago. It’s best to do dual degree nursing/midwife. It’ll also be at uni. I’m 32 with 2 kids and wanting to add 1 more. I am also a hands on learner because I hate reading 🤣🤣
Good luck with it all.
You can’t go to tafe to be a midwife, you need to go to uni.
Best bet is a bachelor of nursing/bachelor of midwifery. Depending on where you are located, speak with course advisors etc. Some unis have better reputation than others 🤷
I was 30 with 1 child and fell pregnant and deferred after my second year. I finished my teaching degree in 2019 with distinction. I also thought I was not smart.... turns out some life experience can really help you at uni. You should absolutely look into it. It was really hard but by far the best decision I have ever made.
