Just wondering for those who have been down the road of needing help falling pregnant where do you start ? We have been trying for 3 years , both in our early 30's, husband had sperm tested through his GP. My GP did an ultrasound and blood test for me and found nothing to cause infertility. I already have 1 child who is 11 and have also fallen pregnant 1 other time which I had a termination. My Dr has just said fertility is a funny thing and will happen in its own time and hasn't suggested any further avenues of investigation. Do you go straight to an IVF clinic or do you see a Gyno first. I dont know where to start ?

Fertility is such a tricky thing, you have what’s called secondary infertility or unexplained infertility. You need your GP to write you a referral to a Fertility Clinic. Pick one and choose a doctor are go back to your doctor with your choice and ask for a referral to be sent to them or given to you to take with you to your initial appointment. Usually you have to let your doctor know you’ve started trying and then wait 12 months before they’ll refer you depending on your age.
Have you had other tests done, have your AMH levels been tested, have they checked to see if your tubes are blocked from scarring, do you have Endo or PCOS?? So many things go “wrong” with women that there are many factors that have to be considered.
Get a referral from your doctor to a Fertility Specialist that works with an IVF Clinic.
They will be able to do more comprehensive testing and scans. Some issues dont come up in regular bloods or ultrasounds.
Just because you go to an IVF Clinic, does not mean you will need to do IVF. Depending on your fertility needs, there are so many things they can try before IVF
Get a referral to a fertility specialist from your GP. I remember my doctor saying when we had issues if you've been trying for 2 years or more and haven't gotten pregnant it's time to get help. Good Luck
