2YR OLD FOOD PROBS :(

Hi guys,

My son is 2yrs and from day dot we had problems with his eating.

He doesn't eat much and doesn't eat a variety. For example if you put a piece of chocolate and watermelon for him to choose from but he didn't know what the chocolate was he would go for the watermelon as he knows what that is.

Below is the list of food he eats

Watermelon sometimes
Raisin toast sometimes
Yoghurt
Rice crackers
Popcorn
Strawberries sometimes
Kiwi sometimes
Formula always
Chips always
Meat rarely

See this is the issues, some days he refuses to eat and only has bottles, one day he will like watermelon the next he won't.

When we give him something new he, touches it, smells it, bites it to taste it and then refuses to eat it. Sometimes he won't even touch or look at the food and will not have a bar of it at all.

We sometimes have to make him just taste it, and he will gag just over the taste or surprisingly he will like it and maybe and I mean MAYBE eat it. He refuses to eat savoury food except for chips I guess. No spaghetti, no casseroles nothing like that, hardly any meat he likes food to be sweet.

I'm at a cross road it's getting to the point where I just don't know what to do anymore, I won't take him off formula because of this. And I am unsure on what's wrong, although I think he may have a food phobia or something like that.

I have never experienced this with my other two children. It's really hard to get him to eat different things and very stressful.. Me and my partner almost cry when we see him actually try something different but it doesn't last long.

Sorry for the long spill.

Any advice would help.. Xo

I dont have any advice but just know your not alone. My daughter is 7 she has refused to.eat meat from age 2. She now will only eat fruit and veggies but they all have to be raw, she wont eat any staple to fill her up. We are now at the point she has supplments to keep her at a healthy weight as when she grows she gets very skinny. We are contemplating a food psychologist to help work through her food issues as we are deathly scared she will.develop a eating disorder when she hits her teens. But just knoe i feel your pain and your not the only one.
