Hi,
I’m just wondering if anyone has had the Pfizer vaccine while pregnant?
I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and it’s being offered to me, however when I search for real life experiences with the pregnancy and vaccine, all I get are government pages.
I’m just looking for some honest experiences, if it’s made any difference to your health or your baby?
I want to do what’s right for my baby, I’ve recently had my whooping cough booster and had no hesitation in getting it because there is evidence and experiences. I’m just not sure wether I should wait until my baby is born to have the Pfizer, or if I should have it now.
Thankyou

There will have been studies on this by now. Ask your GP to point you to the research. The important thing is the numbers. Is there any change in the numbers (positive pregnancy outcomes amongst vaxxed versus in-vaxxed).
There will always be some one keen to pin there negative experience on the vaccine.
Asking for personal experiences will bring out the ‘friend of a friend’ type stories. You have know way of knowing if they are factual or your question is being answered by an anti-Vaxer trying to scare the shit out of you.
So true I am sick of hearing a friend of a friend or brothers , cousins mothers sisters dad 🤦🏼♀️
I had my first dose on Monday. I’m currently 36 weeks and at my scan on Wednesday baby was happy and healthy kicking around. I had a sore arm at the injection site for 2 days but definitely not as sore as it’s gotten from the whooping cough. I was nervous about getting it but I’m a lot more concerned about getting Covid while pregnant.
I’d honestly recommend discussing it with your dr/midwife further thought and asking them to direct you to medical papers on the topic. The internet is full of so much conflicting information and armchair drs that I chose to ask my dr the questions and follow their advice.
Thanks!:) yep I’ve spoken to my care team, I’ve read so many studies. I’m conflicted between possibly catching the virus and something going wrong, or something going wrong if I were to get the vaccine and either way being my fault.
I was looking to hear from people who have made the choice to have the vaccine, so thankyou, I appreciate your response- it helps.
I know 3 people who have had it whilst pregnant :)
2 have so far had perfectly healthy pregnancies. The third lost her baby (still born) with deformities which were not picked up on scans prior to the vaccination.
Nothing to do with the vax but when people grieve, they look for something to blame and the vax was probably it for this poor person. They would do an autopsy to confirm what it was. The poor mumma, how sad for her. I would blame the vax also if I was in that position. I’d be devastated and angry but it prob wasn’t the vax. They picked up things in my ultrasounds and when I had my baby none of it was true. The midwife’s were confused as to why the obstetrician told me things.
Thanks for your reply, that experience is what I’m after:) just to know that 2 are perfectly healthy after the vaccine. Im sorry for your other friends loss, that would be so very hard.
This is my 3rd pregnancy, but with 10 years between- I’m quite nervous for making sure everything is okay.
Not sure if it’s just because the world is different now in lockdown all the time, or if I’ve just become more aware of risk!
Thankyou for your response, I appreciate it.
Will you have your whopping cough Vax? This works the same way. You'd want to provide protection to your bub. There have been a number of newborns in hospital with covid and personally, I wouldn't want to put a newborn thru that.
Please speak with your GP.
She clearly said she’s had her whooping cough booster …..?????
That's her point. You really do need to speak with a GP you're putting far too much trust in the intelligence of your average Jane bloggs, and anonymously you don't even know if they're passing average...
I respect your choice either way but please talk this over with your prenatal care providers! They are the only people who can give you factual information relevant to your specific needs!
My partner was reluctant to get his Pfizer shot because the friend of the brother of some guy he works with now has "erectile dysfunction" because of it.
It took some convincing that he should listen to his GP and not some abstract person and their experience that he can't even know for sure exists.
It’s always the friend of the brother or cousin. Side affects are rare.
Side effects are rare ? No they aren't. Even if they were, vaccines aren't a one size fits all. Essentially you're telling people to vaccinate and what if they are that "rare occurrence"? You aren't a immunologist or scientist or doctor. Stop giving blanket advice to people.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to friend of a friend or cousin of a friend etc those stories are normally like Chinese whispers and have gotten so passed down and misunderstood by the time they reach you. Or they're just straight up lies and the person telling the lie knows it won't be able to be verified.
It's approved and safe for use in pregnancy, and numerous health professionals have advised it is okay.
I was watching a presser a week or so ago with the head of a maternity ward in the Royal Women's in Melbourne and he said the outcomes for pregnant people who have contracted the Delta strain have been really poor - many become gravely ill and risk preterm labour and other complications.
It’s very safe and you are at significant risk if you don’t have it. The vax isn’t new at all. The strain is new. They would not give it to pregnant women if it would harm them. Do not read all the crap on fb. I know many who have had it and they are fine. Focus only on the positives.
Are you joking ? They gave morning sickness tablets years ago that cause deformities in babies. Now after 70 years, pregnant women are being cautioned against using pandadol. Science is not always right and is always changing. To say this is 100% safe is ridiculous.
OP reply.
I have spoken to my gp , midwives and dr of prenatal care about the vaccine of course. 4 weeks ago when I had my other vaccine with gp and 6 weeks ago with care team during hospital intake. Both just directed me to read about the vaccine through the government and Monash health websites. My gp said it was no problem to wait because there wasn’t a lot of study done. I’m not the kind of person to just take it lightly. I live in Melbourne and strongly believe in science. Ive had all the tests, have followed all the recommendations of my care team- however, this virus/vaccine, has me questioning because it’s new to me vs many years of studies regarding outcomes. And considering the push I just wanted to hear from people that have had the experience rather than read another study for the millionth time.
I’m not anti vax, my partner and my teenage daughter have both had it, and I had planned to have it after the baby was born. Due to cases rising quickly, I am now considering during pregnancy and was looking for real life experience because I am a bit anxious about the situation for my baby. If I wasn’t pregnant, I’d have had the vaccine already.
So thanks to the 2 people- 36 weeks pregnant and the lady who’s 3 friends have had it- for your replies.:)
The experience is what I’m after, I’ve read the studies.
The studies are real people that have had it. Lots of them. No concerns and it does pass over on to your newborn, safe at any stage in pregnant so strongly advised to get it for good reason.
You dont know her medical history and no expert can confirm its 100% safe. Please stop giving medical advice.
I feel the exact same as you.
I am 20 weeks pregnant and so scared and lost about making the right decision.
I actually posted yesterday without realising you posted before me.
I wish I knew what the right thing to do was. I still haven’t made my decision 😢
You need to see another doctor as yours is providing incorrect and harmful information. I had my first shot on Monday at 13 weeks, my second is booked for a few weeks time. It was recommended by my obstetrician and oncologist. Plenty of studies have been done and the vaccine itself does not cross the placenta so there is no risk to the baby. The baby receives the antibodies the same way they do for whooping cough.
The risk of catching Covid whilst pregnant increases the risk of complications for the mother significantly.
After my jab I had a sore arm for 2 days, that was it. Baby is doing well and growing shown from ultrasounds done after the vaccine (routine ultrasound not a precautionary one)
Which studies say its 100% safe in pregnant women ? Pandaol was 100% safe and now it's not. Please stop giving medical advice.
I’m not pregnant but am a nurse and all my pregnant nurse friends are vaccinated. We also have multiple pregnant women in our ICU! If you are in vic/nsw definitely get vaccinated
