Ok, money is SUPER tight at the moment. Like, $50 for the week tight. I’m going to bake for the kids school lunches but what are some dinner ideas for family of 4? Thankyou

Whole roast chicken. Cheap and you will get 2 dinners or some lunch meat from it.
Eggs. Omelette, bacon and eggs, 2 minute noodle with fried egg on top
$1 dry spaghetti and $2 pasta sauce will feed me and my two kids with some left over for a night
What do you already have? What proteins do you have? That will help us to give advice because you will have to use what you already have and just buy what you really need to make up a meal. My cheap meals are
- pizzas that you make completely yourself from scratch, you can put anything on it, bits and pieces of what you already have.
-tuna pasta bake
- dishes that you can "spread" the protein in and make up with cheaper things like veggies/beans. Stir-fry, casseroles, bakes are all good for this.
-egg meals
- there's nothing wrong with toasted sandwiches, Burgers, hotdogs, noodles to get you through!
Lentil Dahl.
Google the skinnymixers recipe, I make it in a pot on the stove instead of in a thermomix. Just as easy and costs virtually nothing.
Came to say the same. Dahl & rice. Cheap. Filling & goes a long way. Plus porridge for breakfast!
Go down to your local community centre. They do food bags and this is exactly what it’s for. When times are tight. They are lovely and non judging.
