I wrote in asking about home schooling my teen a few weeks ago. She was struggling with schooling due to sever bullying which was causing depression and anxiety. I would like to firstly thank everyone for writing ideas I read every single one.
We did alot of research into schools and found an alternative school called Alta 1. They do online schooling where she will meed to visit the campus twice a week each for an hour. She will also have a Chaplin visit her once a week to work through a counselling course which is self paced and usually takes close to 12mths after this she will be slowly Introduced into their campus classes.
After alot of paperwork we applied and got accepted into this school. Today is her first day she was very anxious but we got to school.
I wrote a letter to her old school informing them of her transferring to a different school. I also took the opportunity to speak of 3 points where I believed the school could better educate staff and teachers to help students like my daughter. I didn't think anything would come of it but felt the need to have this documented. The day after I sent the letter I got an email from the schools principal. She said she had read my letter and was upset this had happened to my daughter and assured me she would be conducting a full investigation by herself on ways the school could change policies.
The school has decided to do a round of educating teachers and staff about how to go about dealing with bullying in the class aswell as a mental health workshop to help teachers better be awear of students with anxiety. I hope that from me speaking up that in the future another student can avoid having to deal with the trauma my daughter experienced.
Today is her first day at her new school we are looking at today as the first day of a new beginning.
For anyone interested in Alta 1 they currently have campuses in WA and QLD only

That sounds brilliant, I really hope it all goes well for her!
Awesome what a great principal for being proactive and doing something about it. Good for you for making this happen so other kids don’t have to suffer like your daughter. Well done Mumma!
