Modelling

Hi Ladies. My kids have recently been accepted in Bubblegum casting. I was not aware there would be an upfront fee. This scares me as I have wasted money before. Does anyone have any experience with the agency, and do the kids actually receive work?

In any agency there is going to be no guarantee of work. There are always going to be more kids on the books than there is work.
What you are paying for is the hope that your kids will match a description/profile given and headshots will be liked enough to be put forward for an audition. If your kids aren’t with an agency you have to look for open casting calls.
It’s one of those things you go into hoping it will be some fun and if it leads to something, that’s great. If it doesn’t, oh well.
The parents of kids who got work are going to write glowing on line reviews, the ones that didn’t get anywhere will feel scammed.

No. Not all agency’s are like bubble gum. They are a rip off. My daughter has an agent and gets work white a bit. She pays for nothing. I would never pay for a thing. The only things I pay for is any photos that she may need for profiles, which can be anyone that I choose. I usually find cheapest photographers around. You never pay for an agent. The only other thing you may have to pay for , is a casting profile which is approx $200 for the year which is what is needed for the child to be submitted for the jobs. It’s yours and not the agents, so it’s not them ripping you off. Good reputable agents don’t charge a thing. Stay very clear of any that do. If they say you need a casting profile then that is absolutely correct and it’s nothing to do with them. The money goes to the website. The agents only make money out of any job your child is booked on. They earn around 10 % which isn’t a lot compared to what your child makes. It’s good money.

If it's the one in Brisbane I'd just be careful. They "scouted"my youngest and I decided not to join them after hearing reviews from other people. They may receive work but the fees seem to be never ending.

I don't trust any of them. They prey on proud parents

No don’t do it. Bubble gum casting are a rip off. You never pay for anything. There are plenty of agency’s you can contact but avoid bubble gum to any that ask for money. My daughter has an agent, you do not ever pay. Contact some agency’s online with good reviews. Avoid any that charge.

Any good agency won’t charge you. They make comission once your child books work. The only thing they will ask you to do is organise photos which can be anywhere if your choice. Not the agency they tell you , you need photos through them.

What state are you in? I can give you some legit ones who I know personally.

Look up Howell management, they have recently started up in Melb. If your kids want to do some extra work in movies, tv etc they will need a casting profile but it’s worth it. They may be able to share one or have it cheaper being 2, but I’m not 100% on that. The profile is around $220 for the year which can be paid monthly. Also they have recently started a modelling division. They dont charge you. You will have to pay for casting profile though to be submitted for the work from them, Similar to a resume. They will also ask for some head shots, you can ask around and find some cheap photographers to do them. Glass management also has recently started up in Melb. Extra work is great for the kids. They earn some money and get great experience from it.

Stay away from them and good others. Contact others that don’t charge. Bubblegum is knowing for ripping people off. Google others with good reviews.

I know In QLD here these are all reputable agents. I have friends with these agents.

Glass management, Agency888, Synergy management, Howell management.

Take some headshots and email them with headshot and ask them if they can represent your child in modelling. They will tell you what you need to do and there won’t be a cost involved.

Also you can only have one agent, so email them all and see which one will accept your children.

Genuine question, not having a go, but why do people do this?
What is the attraction in getting your child into modelling work?
I’ve never understood this.
I understand if your child is a brilliant singer or dancer, getting them work doing something they love and excel at, but this, I don’t get it.
