Move to Melbourne

Hi all! I’m interested in moving to Victoria with my children.
I have visited the state before but I don’t know much about locations. When it comes to suburbs or schools, which ones are good, public transport, safety, convenience; I have no idea. I will be renting so affordability plays a part too. Also information on good dance schools would be helpful too. TIA!

Stay away from Melbourne - it’s a shithole.

Depends where you go, try more country areas. Adelaides much better and affordable or QLD. Go outer melb would be my suggestion if that’s what you really want. So many will talk you out it melb haha but hey if it’s what you want then go for it. We don’t hear of many wanting to move to melb, so it’s a shock to some of us to read this but good luck with everything, I hope you get some good info on some great places to move to there.

My daughter is planning on moving to Melbourne next year from Perth and my son wants to as well. She's already been and loved it. Out of all the capital cities I think Melbourne is probably the more progressive, very appealing to young people for some reason. So not that anyone doesn't want to move there it's just a different generation that it appeals to. I couldn't stand it but then I can't even stand Perth and that's basically just a big town compared to Melbourne lol. I like my country towns.

We are in the eastern suburbs and are very happy. I came to Melbourne from the country. I’ve been here now 15 years and have 2 kids. 11 and 13. So 1 in primary school and 1 in Highschool. We are in Blackburn.. it has a great community feel through the school and the sporting clubs. Happy to answer any questions if you have any.
