Dealing With Debilitating Phobia

Has anyone successfully dealt with a debilitating phobia?

My teenager has a phobia that is severely impacting their everyday life. Physical reactions when faced with the obstacle.

We are under the care of a psych who is trying EMT, however I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have had success with hypnotism? I have heard it can do wonders, however I am worried about wasting time and possibly discouraging results from fraudulent types....

Please note, there has been no previous trauma in this person's life to warrant this fear. It is a genuine phobia that has been around as long as we cam remember.
Again, already seeing a psych.

It can't hurt to try it.
I believe it can genuinely help f the right person is doing it so do your research first. I'd be trying anything and everything, don't be afraid to go outside the realm of western medicine (but definitely keep doing that too!) And look into alternative medicine like healers, naturopaths, massage therapies etc as well as seeing a psych, gp etc.

I had really bad anxiety, I couldn't even go to the mailbox at one point!
I received help from meds and doctors but also did alot of 'spiritual ' stuff (meditation, yoga, crystal therapy) which I know sounds absolutely crazy but something worked and I am happy healthy and don't need any medication or doctors. I do meditation when I'm overwhelmed and use the other techniques I was taught.

Try everything because you never know what will be the thing that will work

I used an online program from Paul McKenna for 'phobia of needles'. It uses visual techniques. It was easy & cheap. I downloaded it, but it was a few years ago & appears to be an app now, apparently. Google it. There are YouTube videos explaining it. Basically it taught me the fear response was my mind trying to protect me against the 'attack' & helped me change that thinking aind alternative ways of 'protecting' myself until I was less sensitive to it.

I mean, I don't love needles, don't want to look at them coming at me, but I'm calm and don't worry about them beforehand. I used to spend 24 hours prior in full blown panic attack, hyperventilating & oh, fainting publicly because my body couldn't cope & shut down when the time came.

It's an unpleasant way to live. I feel for your teen. I hope this, or something else helps. I was very motivated to make it work. I think that was the real key to success.

In my experience, the phobia is anxiety that is manifestation of something deep rooted. It isn’t particularly related. For me, immense emotional pressure caused a phobia (of drs) to appear years later after a drs visit. I couldn’t leave the house and couldn’t hear the word Dr. It was debilitating!

I faced my phobia front on after intense therapy including counselling, NLP therapy and hypnotherapy. Then I invested time in candles, aromatherapy oils and meditation. It took years but I can honestly say I feel normal now. It is possible to overcome.

I have had rapid eye therapy and hypnosis.
My hubby has ADHD, I needed to control my reaction to his impulses.
Worked a treat
Married 10 years next year, we work together. Pretty much 24/7 together no dramas.
