ODD teenager

Has anyone had any experience in diagnosis of a teenager (17) with ODD?
It’s more than the usual teenager stuff and it’s been going on for years.
If so how did you go about it?
And any tips on how to parent a child with ODD we are at breaking point.

A paediatrician, adolescent psychiatrist or clinical psychologist can make a diagnosis. With ODD , early intervention improves outcomes as adults. So... go to the GP for a referral sooner than later

My son was diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, CD, complex childhood trauma and Asperger’s. He’s 18 now and it’s been such hard work and still hard some days (although he’s moved out of home)

We used medication (anti anxiety currently), psychologist and psychiatrist as needed, and lots of therapy.

We still have the occasional attempt/threats of suicide but he’s got a job now and this seems to have calmed him down a bit. He does construction work and given simple easy directions is excelling and has become quite the reliable worker.

Start with a referral to a psychiatrist or similar and maybe medication and therapeutic support might help your teen 💕
