I love Bali and always stay in Legian and Ubud. Ubud has some beautiful places to stay with infinity pools. Sanur is a nice quieter spot, if you aren’t sure for your first time to Bali. I take it, it is?
Legian is excellent location for shopping, restaurants and spas.
Along the beach front in Legian has some excellent and cheap accomodation options upto 5 stat amazing. Depending on how much you want to spend.
I use agoda to book.
Places to stay Legian Beach Hotel, Puri Raja, kumala Pantai, Camikalla, padma, jayakarta. All excellent locations and vary in prices.
Ubud the Lokha Resort is beautiful overlooking the river, it’s very safe and cheap.read your reviews on hotels before booking. Most places are amazing in Ubud but def spend 2-3 nights in Ubud.
Drivers can be found easy for $60 for the entire day, join some pages Bali groupies, Bali bogans, Bali buddies, there is so much info on these pages and everyone is happy to answer questions.
Travel tips, don’t listen to the media or horror stories. If it’s your first time, don’t let them know. You will get addicted to Bali!
