How to make additional fund to cushion the increase in living

Hi all, I have been a single parent for many years now and although I have pretty much always lived week to week I have always managed to get by.. kids have had everything they have needed and a little bit more. Lately, like most people I am really feeling the pinch.

I work in a job I love 5 days a week, but after a career change I am still being paid at the lower end of the pay scale, there is still about a $10 per hour wage growth but that’s over the next 6 years.

I need something I can do from home in evening or weekends that potentially would give me some extra $$ to buffet the increases. My mortgage alone has gone up by $500 per month and that hurts.

What do you do to supplement your family income?

I think you’d make a killing if you made big family size affordable family meals with veggies in - spag bol/ lasagne / pie and veggies etc. I would buy 5 a week if it was healthy, affordable, saved me cooking washing up and wasting groceries.
you would need a food service cert, and your kitchen would need certain standards and inspections but I’ve heard of people using/ renting cafe or bakery kitchen in their closed time.

Not sure if this would help with your current work hours, but one of our local mums rents the canteen after lunch time - she makes ‘kerbside pickup’ dinners to collect (orders placed by 12) she usually has 4 to choose from and you collect when you collect your kids.
Each meal is either single serve or serves 4 and single meals are $10 and serves 4 are $35. Not sure of her profit margin, but she’s always packed with orders!

If you're crafty check out etsy for ideas.
If you live out of the metro areas there also buy from a bush business.
If the kids go to dads regularly look into uber, user eats, menu log etc. Even if it's just for a weekend a month this those shifts could soon add up.
