Teachers aide without qualifications

Teachers aide without qualifications

Can I be a teachers aide without having done any courses or certificates? In qld. Can I just send my resume to a school, without there being a job advertised, and just hope to be lucky?

I doubt it. Maybe as a volunteer. Teacher's aides need skills and education is one area that's usually stoic about qualifications.

Check out the QLD govt TAFE free courses they're offering to residents. I think there was something like a teacher aide course (can't remember exactly).

If you're enrolled (and actually plan to do the studying to finish) you might get an opportunity if you're a good fit.

You'll need a blue card as well.

Depends on the school. Some require cert III or IV. Some don't. Approach the schools that you're interested in directly to ask about requirements.

You used to be able to but it has probably changed now. I was a Teacher's Aide ten years ago in WA and it was just starting to change then. You had to have your certificate for kindy and pre primary, the older years you didn't need a qualification but with new positions coming up schools had to pick a certified person over a non certified person regardless of experience. If you were the only person to apply they may have considered you but they would probably ask you to start the certification.

I don't think so. I'm a qualified Teachers Aide with a cert 4 in Education Support. I've been on the relief roller-coaster since August 2018. You may be lucky to get a job straight away in a school.
