Home schooling teenager

What is involved with homeschooling (grade 9, qld)? My daughter is being bullied terribly and keeps asking to be home schooled. Would I still be able to work or do I have to stay home and help her every day? Where do I even begin? Who should I contact? I need all the info please.

You are responsible for teaching her. You can do it in your own schedule, but I can’t see leaving her home alone daily and you working full time and then coming home and trying to start schooling high school work, that won’t go well for either of you. If you’re going to do it( you’ll need to commit as well: there are a lot of homeschool groups and activities available for her to join (she can’t do it all herself though).
You can enrol in online school, where she has a teacher and class online, she would do her work while you’re at school, this could work out ok, depending on how she goes being alone for so long.
Are there any other schools around as a first option?

Online school is the only way to go for high school kids, it is really hard to keep up with the curriculum otherwise. In WA there is Swan Christian College which has a great online school, I know they have online schools for other states but I don't know which states or school names but if you google online schooling + your state, you should be able to see what's available.

I would speak to the school. Next year is so much better at the age where they can do tafe etc through school. I think if you can work with the school, it would be better on this and getting her into a different learning path next year. I am currently working with my daughters school same age ready for next year. Bit due to bullying but other issues and not wanting to attend. So many more options in year 10, if she can hang out a bit longer. Take her off school for a week or 2 and give her a break. I keep my off now and then for some mental health time.

Leaving a year 9 student home unsupervised every day is not a good plan. It's very different to a week or two in school holidays.

There are a couple of options,

Distance education (I recommend this option over the other), the school sends lesson plans and materials, your daughter completes them with your supervision and the school marks them etc.

The other option is you apply for homeschool status and you provide all the materials, write the lesson plans, mark etc it means you have to understand the expectations and standards expected and its a lot of work. The government does come and check on you. They want to see, examples of work and activities.
