Family Law - divorce and property settlement

My ex has served me divorce papers (already engaged to someone else). Happy for the divorce to go through but haven’t done a property settlement yet. I was a stay at home mum for 13 years and didn’t receive any government financial support because he earnt too much. Now, he “claims” he doesn’t have a job (I know he’s doing cash jobs and lying to Centrelink and child support), doesn’t have to pay child support because he doesn’t have an income (BS 🙄), barely sees his kids and will be using legal aid and rorting the system to get free legal advice and documentation. My question is, I work, pay everything for 3 children, am not entitled to legal aid because I earn too much (with the cost of living this is ludicrous) and therefore can’t afford a lawyer. I don’t know what to do…..any advice would be great. I want what I’m rightfully entitled too for raising 3 children and not being able to work during that time before the new wife marries, divorces and takes what will be used for my children.

Your lawyer can be paid from the settlement. You don't need the money up front

You're best to do the property settlement before the divorce as you only get 12 months to do it. As mentioned see a lawyer, they may require a small deposit upfront, but will take the rest from settlement.
