Working in fast food at an older age

Do any of you women in your late 30’s or early 40’s work at the big fast food restaurants, like McDonald’s, hungry jacks etc. How do you find it? What is the pay like? I don’t mean to be nasty but do you get embarrassed when people you know come in and see you working there at that age? Is it hard working with all the really young kids?

I'm a professional and hubby is a tradie. We often joke about quitting and working in a donut shop. the idea of my job just being simple and not having big issues that play on your mind sounds awesome... If it would make you happy, go for it. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

In this economic climate I’m not sure anyone has room to judge.
Hold your head up. People that mind don’t matter and those who matter won’t mind.

I worked at Maccas when my kids were younger because I could work school hours and not be expected to work during school holidays. Its a great organisation to work for. They train you well and you have opportunities to move up the ladder. The gardener ended up being a manager at mine. It is not hard working with young people but it can be hard when an 18 year old is your supervisor which happens a lot in those places. It is definitely not an easy job, you're on your feet all day, you have to work fast, there's a lot to remember and you have to lift heavy things. Add to that the customers can be so rude, mature age workers get treated a bit better but you will be disgusted by how the younger ones get spoken to. More often by grown adults. I wouldn't care what people think. They are not living your life. Think of what you want from a job and if fast food tick those boxes then go for it. If people you know are going to judge you for where you work than its not worth knowing them in my opinion.
