Quick question, I have found out I am pregnant and already suffering from atrocious morning sickness.
I am finding it impossible to work and already have tried many things to no avail.
Is it bad to talk to work about taking a couple weeks off to try and recoup? I feel like calling in sick on the daily is worse?
I don’t really know what to do? Im hoping it passes soon, just have to wait it out.

You should. I'm in leadership and I had horrendous pregnancies so I would understand. And people that can't sympathize can't argue with a med certificate
I'm in management as well and also had chronic morning sickness so I feel you.
In a professional sense, I'd 100 percent want you to be upfront and let me know you needed a few weeks off to rest and recuperate as opposed to calling in sick daily. I'd do everything in my power to ensure you got what you needed if you had those open lines of communication with me! It's also a lot easier to organise temps or covers ahead of time rather than at short notice.
Not to mention, having that time organised for yourself will take a huge load of stress off because you won't have to worry about being well enough to go in (at least temporarily).
Definitely arm yourself with a doctors certificate though just in case your boss isn't as accommodating.
I started a new job not knowing I was pregnant for the 1st time.
When I found out I didn’t tell them because I was new.
Some customers/people around me perfumes made me so sick, I was a little forgetful and was hired because I could hit the ground running.
I was called in to HR, they told me to do a pregnancy test…but I had to confess.
People know
Whoa! They told you to do a pregnancy test?! I don't even think that's legal lol.
I do agree though, people know (or at least make assumptions). Better to be honest with your boss!
It would probably also pay to do a bit of research about the pregnancy discrimination act so you know your rights.
Yes I am only very new in this job. I had to tell them sooner then i wanted and unfortunately am so sick. I have 2 weeks off and I guess I can only see if i need more when i get close to that.
