Hi everyone,
My 7yr old boys emotional regulation skills are just still not there and honestly at times feels like they are getting worse.
He just dropped a biscuit (of which we have 10 more) and completely lost it, stomping the floor, crying, screaming and when his sister tried to talk to him or help him he just says stop it and continues on. In fact, this is his normal response when someone offers to help him. He throws and kicks things too. He refuses touch or cuddles when he is upset, he refuses to use any calm down techniques, and screams if anybody tries to talk to him.
Time outs have not helped, taking away his tech and favourite toys have not helped. We try to talk to him about it but he just says he doesn’t want to or his response to questions is always ‘I don’t know” and it just feels like nothing is processing, and it’s been since he was 3. He has seen an OT previously and they said he will grow out of it and didn’t feel he needed sessions.
Any suggestions? From a tired Mumma at her wits end

See a paediatrician now he's older
what alternatives have you suggested for him when he gets frustrated?
you can say don't do this without saying, but you can do this.
go punch the bioxing bag etc.
Def see Pyschologist or a Paediatrician.
I think an assessment would help him. Start to link in with supports like an OT as well. They’re fantastic at teaching kids how their brain works and how to recognise the signs in their body when they’re not regulated.
