earning after separating. is there bias to dads?

Hi Ims. I want some general non-judgemental feedback. I kinda want to get all feminine angry and then feel like I'm just being hot headed. but I honestly feel a bit wronged.
Firstly some background.
1. Single mum to three kids
2. Primary carer
3. Dad is abusive to me. Dotes on kids

So I ask my boss for a payrise. Company has done well. I'm a bit of a tech head. Have earning potential.

After the inital request to review pay, my boss asks about my post separation child support payments.
I feel really upset as when my boss "revealed" my proposed new salary it was mentioned that "I can't believe he (estranged husband) doesn't have to pay more.
I work hard. I sacrificed a lot to go to uni and feel like my pay rise was compromised by my separated status.

If I were a single man with bankable tech skills in a niche market, would my wife's earnings be a conversation with my employer?
Tia. Need love mummas.

If my boss had asked about my child support payments I would have told him it's none of his business and irrelevant to wether I deserve a pay rise!

Totally wrong! If my employer EVER requested information about my personal financial status in a context like this, I would very quickly and politely tell them it was none of their business! Does your boss and/or CEO not understand boundaries? Your child.support should have no bearing.on how.much you are worth to the.company, this.should.be based solely on qualifications, merit and work related attitude!!!

Sounds so Wrong. What the father pays to support his kids is totally irrelevant to your work salary and pay rise. Completely crossed the line.

Discrimination. It has no relevance. Report your supervisor thu the appropriate channels. Good luck
