feeling bad about working.

feeling bad about working.

1 my babe is 1 and he only says 4 words. Is this ok?

2 I work a few hours a day. Some days its up to 4 but rarely any more than that. And while I am working my son is still on my care, he has full run of the house. I have baby proofed the house and there is nothing he can be hurt with or be harmed by. While I am working he wonders in and out of the room I am in. He plays by himself and is a happy little fella.

3 my partner is not very helpful, he is a playful and great dad. He just doesn't help with the house work or the routine I have in place. I get that the most part I am the stay at home mum but some help sometimes would be lovely.

4. I know I am blessed And I am lucky to be able to work from home. However I am feeling guilty working when I should be playing with our child.

So my question is if I wasn't working would my son be saying more words?

Do you think its ok for me to be working while my son is at home?

4 words around 1 is fine. The only person who could tell you if your child could have more words if you spent all day playing with him is probably a speech pathologist. They would probably just give you a reassuring pat on the head. Personally I think on the working issue, if you enjoy working then keep working. Perhaps put him in daycare a day a week so he has the opportunity to be around other children and have an opportunity to try a wider variety of activities like painting, water play etc.

I agree, my dd only had 4or5 at 1 but by 16mths she has heaps it just clicked for her. I also agree with day care one day a week, he will get great play time with lots of kids and mum gets to catch up and have a cup of tea that dosent have plastic animals or soggy biscuits floating in it lol. I still feel guilty when I dont play all day but really we would never get anything done if we did. As for your partner I have no suggestions, im still working on that one, I usually wait till miss is having a fit over something and start unloading the dishwasher...then I 'swap' him and I dont have to do the dishes :) no its not mature but it works lol

4 words at one is fine :)

My 15 month old says 3 or 4. Including mum, mummy, up (as in pick me up) and Laddie (the dogs name).
