Having a baby with health problems

My husband and I have been married for 3 years this November and we have been trying for a baby with unfortunately no luck these last two years.
I'm 22,
He's 23.
Yes, we are young although we both work full time and have our own rental together and stable.

My husband suffered through testicular cancer in late teens and was told his sperm count would be damaged through treatment.
They also gave him a 10 yr window in which they said after the 10 yr line he's reproductive health will possibly recover.
He has had a check a few years ago and his sperm was - well asleep is what they called it.
He never lost any body parts due to treatment.
My question is does anyone have any positive stories to tell me?
Doctors have said nothing in the sort except wait and see.
Is there anything we can do to help it along?
We both really want to bring a child into our family but it seems like a lot of heart ache and dossapointment
I haven't fallen pregnant before :(

Any ideas?

Am I doing the maths right?? If his reproductive health will recover after 10 years, he still has about 5 more years to wait??? Or did you mean that his reproductive health would only last 10 years after treatment, then deteriorate after that? Anyway, whatever the circumstances, I wish you all the very best, whether you need to wait another 5 years or not! I'm a midwife and I've lost count of the number of times I've heard stories of infertility and hearbreak, only to discover an unexpected pregnancy when they'd given up trying and started focussing on something else :-) I had a beautiful couple in birth suite recently who had tried for 11 years, then decided to throw in the towel. They figured Mother Nature was not on their side. But then just after the husband bought a brand new expensive car, they discovered they were pregnant :-) Another couple I recall had spent a hundred thousand dollars over the years on IVF, with no luck. They signed up with an adoption agency then discovered they were pregnant :-) I could go on and on with these stories! I've heards lots about couples quitting the counting and ovulation tests and all that, going on a holiday and forgetting about it all - and pregnancy soon follows. Maybe look at dietary changes and vitamin supplements etc for your husband to help with his sperm health, you never know, it's worth a try! Hope a little miracle comes your way soon xo
