So, we are thinking of taking a family holiday in the middle of next year.
At this point we are thinking of going to Bali.
I have been to Bali twice before but it was over 15 years ago and I was a teenager with my mum and dad and so much has changed since then. My husband has never been overseas.
Anyway I'm after some info from people who have done it with little kiddies (mine will be 4 and 7).
Tell me everything I need to know from the flights (we will leave from Melbourne) to where to stay, what to do/see, great places to eat, easiest way to get around, anything that will be helpful and make it a stress free experience.
TIA xxx

A well travelled family member did Bali with little kids. They said they wouldn't do it again. It's a bit of a party place and although there are sites to see etc it wasn't as kid friendly as many places they have been.
It depends where you go, bali is very different all over. Kuta is the busy, clubby, party centre. Ubud is in the rainforest & lovely & chilled out & has a nice market. Legian & kerobokan are close enough to kuta for the markets shopping & food but far away to escape the trashy nights with kids.
Waterbom ( kuta) is good for kids, tanah lot is beautiful, the monkey forest in ubud, see rice paddies, temples & real villages out of the tourist path, the elephant park, you can go up the volcano. Theres beautiful beaches around, nusa dua has watersports, jetski, glass bottom boats, flyboats, parasailing etc etc.
pretty much everywhere youll find nice swimmingpools, restaurants, cafes & massages.
Easiest way to travel is taxi. Short trip is from $1 to a car for a day is around $30.
Took my now 4 year old last year and we are going again in October. My hubby met a few old friends while we were there so he went out twice, I didn't go out, we did safari park last year and hung around hotel/shopped in streets. We went for 7 days as my hubby had never been and was unsure. This year we are going for 15 days we are doing zoo, waterbom, tanah lot, turtle releasing through our hotel on kuta beach, we are doing jimbaran bay one evening, seminyak a couple of times for beach clubs (Finns beach club, potato head) and meals, we are doing night safari, elephant riding, parasailing, atv riding, dolphin swim. Stay at a hotel like hard rock or dynasty they both have kids slides and stuff. Most hotels have kids clubs, yes kuta/legian can be party spots but Bali is fantastic for all types of holidays just depends on what you make it. My mum goes every year she doesn't drink just goes to shop and relax, stays at the febris in south kuta/tuban, her best friend has just come back from a boot camp with Shannon ponton from biggest loser, we have friends who have no kids they go over with her family but do different activities each visit like the elephant riding/dolphin swim etc and get tattoos maybe go out 1-2 times over a couple of weeks and then we have a 4 year old so we do things we think he'll enjoy. Check out ticbali.net they have activities on there or look things up on tripadvisor.
We took our daughter when she was 3. It was great we booked into the dynasty hotel which is very good for catering for kids with western food and lots of fun things to do. We didn't do the party thing, mostly did shopping, safari park, and the elephant park she really enjoyed it. I would take my kids again
