Moving from Perth to Brisbane

Ok, sorry for the long post in advance. So myself and my partner are thinking about moving from perth to Brisbane, for 18 months or so, and see how we like it. I have never lived anywhere but perth. My partner is finding it hard because he has no family in perth and the only thing that is keeping him here is me. He has very good family friends over in Brisbane. I'm just wandering if anyone else has moved from perth to Brisbane and how much it costs, how you found accommodation, and jobs. I am a nurse, I have just recently resigned from my job in mental health. I have 18months experience as a nurse and have a bachelor of nursing degree. I was thinking about going into midwifery or paediatrics, I would love a job in any hospital in any ward excluding ,mental health. I also have a 6yr old daughter who is at a private school at the moment. I am wanting advice in schools in Brisbane good public ones, and private I don't have a clue about schools there. My partners family friends live in warner? I know they are in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. I would also need to find a good gp, neurologist and possible paediatrician. Any advice on any of this would be great thanks in advance

I have moved states and found accommodation in 3 ways. 1. Moved stayed with family until I found somewhere (it gave me a chance to check out suburbs once I got there) 2. Paid someone to look at rentals for me so I moved straight in (you need to know what job your going to) 3. Went for a 'holiday' where I checked out rentals ahead of time (the rental market moves much faster these days so I don't recommend that option). You can get quotes online for moving belongings with moving companies based on the amount of belongings you have. When working out costs don't forget to include the cost of car movers unless you plan to drive. Also the cost of moving any pets as that's an extra expense. You should be able to access local newspapers online etc to look for jobs but I advise getting at least one of you secured employment before moving. You may need to fly over for a job interview although some companies will do skype interviews these days.

Compared to Perth you should find Brisbane much cheaper! I'm southside so can't advise on Northside suburbs or schools but where we are there are excellent public schools. Go onto the Myschools website and you'll see the naplan results etc
